Generative AI policies
Generative AI and AI-Assisted Tools Policy
International Journal of Communication, Computing and Technology Systems (IJCCTS.org)
To uphold the highest standards of research integrity and transparency, the International Journal of Communication, Computing and Technology Systems (IJCCTS) has adopted a formal policy on the use of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation, peer review, and editorial processes.
For Authors
-
Permissible Use: Authors may use generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, or similar) solely for language enhancement purposes—to improve grammar, clarity, and readability.
-
Disclosure Required: Any use of AI in writing or editing the manuscript must be clearly disclosed in a separate "AI Use Disclosure" section at the end of the manuscript, prior to the References.
Example disclosure:
“The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) to improve language and grammar under human supervision. All scientific content, analyses, and conclusions were developed and verified by the authors.”
-
Prohibited Use:
-
Generative AI tools must not be used to generate scientific content, fabricate data, manipulate results, or create figures or graphs unless AI-based tools are part of the declared research methodology.
-
AI tools cannot be credited as an author or co-author.
-
-
Figures and Artwork:
-
AI-generated or AI-edited images, figures, or graphical abstracts are not permitted unless explicitly approved by the editorial board.
-
If AI-assisted imaging is part of the research methodology (e.g., in computer vision), its use must be described clearly in the Methods section.
-
For Reviewers
-
Reviewers must not upload any part of a submitted manuscript or their review report into generative AI platforms, as this violates confidentiality agreements and may breach data privacy laws.
-
All peer reviews must be conducted using original, human-authored critical evaluation. Use of AI to assist in scientific review is not allowed.
For Editors
-
Editors should not upload manuscripts, decision letters, or editorial communications into AI tools for processing or language improvement.
-
Manuscript evaluation and decisions must be carried out solely by human editors, using their expertise and judgment.
-
In case of suspected AI misuse, the editorial board reserves the right to request clarifications or take corrective actions.
Compliance and Responsibility
All parties involved—authors, reviewers, and editors—are expected to comply with this policy to maintain ethical publishing standards. IJCCTS.org follows ethical frameworks provided by COPE, ICMJE, and major academic publishers. Non-compliance may lead to manuscript rejection, retraction, or formal ethics investigation.
